Do you often doubt your ability to achieve goals? Do you constantly question your choices and steps along the way? While doubt is a natural part of life, too much of it can be paralyzing. In fact, many people often fail to reach their goals purely because they allowed doubt to set in.
So how do you stop doubt from halting the process of achieving your dreams? Here are two important tips on how to combat doubt while pursuing your goals:
Don’t question a journey once you’ve started. According to Dr. Eric Amidi, it’s okay and even wise to be critical of a journey before you begin. After all, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons and come to a conclusion as to whether it is the right path for your life. But once you have made a decision, there should be no room for doubt. Doubting or criticizing a journey midway can hinder your dreams. Dr. Eric Amidi uses an example of an Olympic runner. He writes, “Can you imagine an Olympic runner who would stop in the middle of a contest and think ‘Um, I wonder if this Olympics thing is something I want to do?’”
Don’t over think the process. You created your goal and even mapped out the steps you will need to get there. But you keep questioning the steps and wondering how everything will work out. You’re thinking too much, and some people believe that over thinking the process can actually make you stumble. Instead, trust yourself. Dr. Eric Amidi says that we should trust that our subconscious mind knows how to “handle all the steps you need to take to achieve your goals and attain your desires…”
